Murrieta, CA - February 3, 2021 - DigitalGlue's creative.space continues to deliver the best post-production storage solutions available through next-generation hardware, the latest OS and system packages, and highly intuitive custom software. Full driver support for the latest high-end hardware components first became available in April 2020 with the release of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Today, DigitalGlue has successfully upgraded the entire creative.space software and hardware platform to take advantage of this new technology.
The creative.space 2.0 software release adds support for PCIe 4.0 processors such as AMD's Ryzen 9 CPU. It is designed to achieve maximum performance with the latest hardware advances, including 128GB DDR4 ECC RAM, NVMe SSDs, USB-C 3.1 Gen 2, WiFi 6, and 200 GbE Ethernet Adaptors. The new PCIe 4.0 standard is twice as fast as PCIe 3.0 and provides double the bandwidth per lane. With these features, the next generation of creative.space systems, like the new //ROGUE PRO, are able to provide blazing fast performance at a dramatically lower price point and in a portable form factor. A few years ago, a storage solution like this would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and filled multiple datacenter racks.
Major legacy storage release cycles can range from 3-5 years due to the complexity of transitioning to a new operating system and an unwillingness to pivot quickly as technology advances. Unlike these legacy vendors, the creative.space platform is agile and purpose-built to support emerging next-generation technologies. "Early in 2020, I directed the team to focus on supporting Ubuntu 20.04 LTS", states Tim Anderson, DigitalGlue CEO/CTO. "This enabled us to offer several significant hardware upgrades. Also, we rewrote and optimized much of our base code during the process. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS includes the latest versions of OpenZFS, OpenLDAP, Samba, and Node.js, which are tightly integrated with our software. The release is built on a foundation of enterprise-grade security and reliability."
creative.space provides an alternative to the traditional purchasing model for storage with the world's first managed storage service. Designed specifically for creatives, managed storage eliminates the need for advanced technical knowledge. Web and Desktop applications simplify collaborative storage by providing a streamlined user experience promoting productivity and creativity, therefore increasing revenue and decreasing expenses for their company.
Rather than pay upfront for a traditional shared storage server with an annual service level agreement covering reactive support, the creative.space platform bundles hardware, software, and proactive support into a fixed monthly rate based on a 1, 2, 3, or 5-year contract. Unlike purchasing or leasing storage, a creative.space service contract is flexible, allowing customers to adapt to changing needs with modular or complete upgrades. DigitalGlue's proactive monitoring enables bottlenecks to be identified and addressed before rather than after they interrupt work, saving customers from unexpected delays and even data loss. All upgrades are included at no additional cost with all creative.space plans. This latest release is yet another way in which DigitalGlue continues to deliver for customers.
